Harold L. Martin Sr.

Harold L. Martin Sr. has been chancellor of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University since June 8, 2009. In this role he provides visionary and strategic leadership to ensure the institution’s relevance and sustainability.

Martin’s professional background is in higher education. Notably, he has served as senior vice president for academic affairs for The University of North Carolina System (2006-2008); chancellor of Winston-Salem State University (2000-2006); and department chairman, dean and vice chancellor at N.C. A&T (1984-1999).

A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Martin received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from A&T and his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

He is married to the former Davida Wagner, county attorney for Forsyth County, N.C. They have two adult sons, Harold Jr. and Walter.
