Leo M. Lambert

"I am involved in the Greensboro Partnership because the State of North Carolina and the city of Greensboro are dynamic environments for both higher education and business. Elon is a magnet for talented young people—more than 70% of our student body comes from outside North Carolina. My colleagues in the Greensboro Partnership work collaboratively to attract and retain talented and creative people that will fuel the economic growth and progress of our region."

Leo M. Lambert has presided over a period of dramatic expansion and quality enhancement at Elon University since becoming president in 1999. During his tenure, Elon has been selected to shelter a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the Elon University School of Law has opened in Greensboro, and 36 new buildings have been constructed. He is a 2009 winner of the William M. Burke Award for Excellence in Experiential Education and a recipient of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce’s Thomas Z. Osborne Distinguished Citizen Award. He received an honorary doctorate in humane letters from the State University of New York and is a member of the board of directors of the Association of American Colleges and Universities.
